Hamilton entered rare air not once but twice today. He joins Michael Schumacher as well as Ayrton Senna on two separate accomplishments today:
- Only Schumacher and Hamilton have completed every single lap of every single grand prix.
- Lewis Hamilton is the only driver in Formula 1 history to be classified in every race in two different seasons.
- Lewis Hamilton and Ayrton Senna are tied for most wins led from start all the way to finish totaling 19.
Valtteri Bottas had a big day ahead of him as he battled from from the back of the grid to almost meeting Leclerc for a P3 Last Lap battle. Thanks to late strat mode by his Mercedes F1 powered engine, The Finn really turned it on to play catch up and get in podium contention. The 2020 F1 season promises only good things for Bottas who will looks to dethrone Lewis Hamilton.
Vettel and Albon battled in the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix for late exchange of places as Vettel’s superior Ferrari passed Albon for P5 as Perez also gets his last lap fight in with Lando Norris. Interestingly, both were in a battle to finish in the top 10 of the drivers championship to which Perez’s passing of Norris secures his P10 final place in the championship and best of the rest for the race.
Speaking of best of the rest, fight for P6 went to the absolute wire! Carlos Sainz had a last lap overtaking of Daniel Ricciardo – both of them made passes on Nico Hulkenberg in the final lap to push Hulkenberg out of the points on his final race in Formula 1… for now. Because of his move, he claimed P6 in the drivers championship.
