The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Tyre Guide highlights the final Formula 1 race event of the 2019 F1 schedule.
The official selection by Pirelli have been to opt for the C3 white hards, the C4 medium yellows, and the C5 red softs. This is a full two steps softer than what we see at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
At the top of the grid Hamilton and Leclerc are bringing matching boots with 3 mediums and 8 softs with the one set of C5s each. Conversely, Charles Leclerc and Valtteri Bottas also bring 8 C5s but bring only the one hard white tips.

Red Bell F1 are coming into the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix off a high with Max Verstappen taking his 8th win of his career and Albon in a good position to take his maiden podium until Lewis Hamilton hit the Red Bull of Albon in a late overtake attempt. While he did not get the reward for his solid racing, Albon was in contention and that has Red Bull optimistic about the upcoming race. As such, they’ve elected to bring the softest set of anyone on the grid as they are the only team to bring the (1) set of C3 hard tyres, they each bring (3) C4 mediums, and a whipping (9) red tipped C5 softs. There are only two other teams on the grid who bring 9 softs – Williams and Toro Rosso.
The Williams drivers were out of points finishing the previous grand prix as they usually are but George Russell was only 1.5 seconds out of a points finish. His teammate Robert Kubica is the only one to have scored for the Mercedes powered team. Russell brings an extra set of hard compounds as Kubica brings one more set of mediums that George.
The Sister squad to Verstappen and Albon had their own highlights as Pierre Gasly pulls in Toro Rosso’s second podium this year with his P2 finish at the Brazilian Grand Prix. They too bring 9 soft sets each and like the Williams, they split their drivers. Kvyat is given 1 C3 and 3 C4 while Gasly gets 2, 2, and 9 of the C3, C4, and C5 respectively.
The rest of the Formula 1 grid opt for 8 sets of C5 softs and mix the sets for their drivers.
The only team on the grid to have their drivers bring identical sets of the Pirelli nominated tyres is Racing Point. Both Lance Stroll and Sergio Perez bring 2 C3, 3 C4, and 8 C5 tyres for the final race of the the 2019 F1 season.
