United States Grand Prix race ultimately ended with Mercedes celebrating a race win & a drivers title, Verstappen snatching another podium, and Ferrari crashing out.
United States Grand Prix Race News will be dominated by Mercedes F1 as Valtteri Bottas wins at the Circuit of the Americas & Lewis Hamilton takes home his 6th straight world drivers championship. Valtteri Bottas wins for the fourth time this year at a track that has always denied anyone not starting from the front row. Hamilton however was able to get the results he needed to deny Valtteri his shot at the crown as Lewis clinched with his second place finish.
A late double yellow as a result of a spin from Kevin Magnussen really helped Lewis. Verstappen smelled blood as he got the word Lewis was gobbled up by Valtteri and just as he was closing in, the Haas driver had his spin. With Hamilton’s tyres hurting, it was enivitable the young Dutch driver would catch the eventual 6th time world title. Probably for the better as a late incident would have sent the F1 world into a frenzy.
United States Grand Prix Race Woes For Ferrari
Vettel gave back his front row grid placement with a poor start and then was victim of the turn nine bump. His suspension was totally wrecked and his retirement ensued just a turn later. The sister Ferrari car also struggled as Leclerc sported the Spec 2 engine due to an oil leak from the FP3 session. He was ultimately forced to used an old power unit to avoid grid penalties. Alex Albon was able to yet again fight through the pack for a P5 finish as he has early contact with Carlos Sainz in the McLaren. Despite visiting his pit three times, the Red Bull Driver still ran a race good enough for P5. in the second Red Bull survived first lap contact with the McLaren of Carlos Sainz to three-stop his way to fifth place.
Renault gets another double points finish as Ricciardo is hitting his stride to say the least. He takes the 6th spot right behind Albon with his teammate Nico Hulkenberg improving a place from the previous race and grabbing a couple points in P9. In between the Renaults were the McLarens. I would consider both of the McLarens to have a relatively successful day as Norris proved he could battle and Carlos squeezed every ounce of points he could out his the technology available to his.
Toro Rosso’s Daniil Kvyat was yet again denied an official in the points finish as his late incident with Sergio Perez would prove he was at fault. A five second penalty was handed down and it put Sergio in p10 with Kvyat classified yet again at P12.
