Tuscan Grand Prix Qualifying session was led by Merc by slightly off the pace was a charging Verstappen. Surprisingly it was Renault that got both their drivers through while McLaren split with Sainz through.
Hamilton takes his 95th pole of his career at a limited home town crowd at The Mugello Circuit. For the first time all season Valtteri would lead a full day’s practice session but he would not maintain his advantage of 6x world champion Hamilton and counting. This dominance hasn’t been displayed since 2014 when Merc set 9 straight front row lockouts in a record shattering season. As of now, they are 2 shy at 7 straight.
But it may not be all arrows tomorrow. Don’t forget to make your F1 Predictions here.
Tyre deg is usually the result of high abrasion and temps. Given these aren’t the most friendly of circumstances for Merc, it’ll be interesting to see how much of a lead they push to in order to control the pace. It’ll be crucial for Valtteri to get off the line well. If Max can stay close, an undercut/overcut is very much in play.
Speaking of Red Bulls, Albon is less than half a second off his teammate at 1:15.509 vs 1:15.954. Not a statement you’d normally proclaim as a win by this weekend it’s better than normal. With Alex in P4 he’s now positionally in play for joint Red Bull strategy games against the Merc. I’d expect a contra strategy for Albon to put the likes of Bottas under pressure.
Esteban Ocon yellow flagged the second runs of Q3 but not before Leclerc squeezed in a timely P5 at the Ferrari 1000th race. Sporting retro liveries, Mugello was graced by only one the deep burgundy custom liveries. But given the year, I think Ferrari will take that.
Norris is out-qualified by Sainz after a couple mistakes leave the Brit a few tenths adrift of the final shootout cutoff. Sainz on the other hand maintains momentum from his podium one week ago in Italy.

Tuscan Grand Prix Outlook
Strategy will key be key Sunday. The raw pace looks to be on the side of the Arrows but don’t count out Verstappen. Ricciardo looks set to be a potential dark horse for an outside podium with a potentially long stint. The switch back overtakes will be a common occurance I suspect. But only time will tell. Don’t forget to check back in tomorrow with the F1 Live Data to catch all the action.
