Verstappen leads The 2020 Styrian Grand Prix FP2 session turning in a 1:03.660 with Bottas 0.043 seconds behind and Perez finishing P3 for the session.
The FP2 session was dominated by Ricciardo binning his Renault red flagging the session. As the session continued, teams looked to be preparing for heavy rains tomorrow which would push the Styrian Grand Prix Qualifying Session – that is IF support sessions would allow it. Should the mountains of the Red Bull Ring swallow up chances of more Saturday running and supports races eliminate more F1 cars qualifying Sunday, the grid would hold as is. This would be a nightmare for a few of them. But if we’ve learned anything, it’s that 2020 will be anything but predictable.

The future McLaren driver cooked his entry and paid the price as he slide backwards in to the heavy at heavy spins giving him a noticeable limp after he eventually exited the car. It would appear both Ricciardo and car will be ready for tomorrow but in what shape, we’ll have to wait and find out. A costly mistake indeed as spare parts are limited enough as as is.
Update on Daniel: After that impact, he went to the medical centre for a check up. Medical delegate has declared him fit.#RSspirit #AustrianGP

Midfield Challenges The Top
While some of the midfield experience minor troubles here and there after Ricciardo, at the top of the pack sat the Racing Point drivers of Stroll and Perez yet again returning for another strong showing after their FP1 pace. McLaren too turned in good sessions in P5 & P8 for Sainz and Norris, respectively. Norris will have to do better than that if he wants to keep his good run up following his podium in round 1 now that he has to deal with as 3 place grid drop thanks to a pass on Gasly under yellows.
Speaking of trouble, Ferrari are in a world of hurt as Vettel is struggling to keep the car under him at the moment while Leclerc hasn’t seem to maximized the new bits Ferrari brough to round 2 as a response to their poor race trim in round 1. It’s not the only trouble for Ferrari powered cars either. Haas duo of Magnusses and Grosjean still have issues and would finish the session dead last.
